Does anyone have an idea for a musical for our orginazation?

We have a relitivly talented cast, so difficulty is not a rpoblem. I want a popular musical that will draw in the crowds. We are trying to raise 38,000 dollars with this show, so it needs to do decently well. Have any ideas??? anything will do, I just need ideas. (also, websites for lincensers would be nice too)

Goodness! That's a lot of money to raise with one show.

Raising money means you need a big audience. The best way to guarantee a big audience is to have a big cast, because each cast member is likely to have several family members and friends come to see him/her. That goes double if you have KIDS in your cast--little kids have a miraculous way of drawing their 4th cousins-once-removed and everyone else they know in to see their show.

With that in mind, try:

The Sound of Music

The King and I

Grease

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

The Music Man

Annie

try working up a script w/ high school musical and the cheetah girls 2, so u can spice it up
Personally, I like The Christmas Story (if it is around Christmas.) You could try Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King (these two would bring in families, parents and children.) I also like Annie and West Side Story. I hope this helps.
If you're trying to raise money, stick with the tried and true. You want a show the 1) the audience has heard of before, and 2) something that will bring older patrons to the theater.

The Music Man

Oklahoma

The Sound of Music

Fiddler on the Roof

Hello Dolly
Well... Grease

Hairspray

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

MAMA MIA!

Wizard of oz

Annie

Bye Bye Birdie

Aladin

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!!!!!
Grease
Grease always does well if you can get the rights...Peter Pan is another good popular production.
What will bring in the most money is a popular show. What's really hot right now (though way overdone in my book) is High School Musical. Grease %26amp; Sound of Music bring in audiences too. It's always the more well known shows that people come see. It's because their familiar and bring back fond memories.

good luck, that's a large sum of money to raise! I suggest adding other findraising things to your lineup such as a 50/50 drawing (or 70/30). Sell tickets before the show and during intermission then do the drawing right before act 2 begins. The bonus to that is that you will get everyone in their seats before the second act starts and it's cash in hand, no major work to be done and all you did was buy a roll of tickets. You can also do a silent auction. Get everyone to donate things (Ask local businesses, etc. so you have nice things) and put out lines paper with starting bids and a place for names and phone numbers then at the end of the night see who won with the highest bid. On each paper should have the bidding increments ($1.00, $5.00, etc.) Salons may donates services, a theatre may donate tickets, a food store may donate a nice basket of goodies, etc. Your group can also make something to sell like a cookbook. They're relatively cheap since you would all donate recipes, ask printers if they would donate the printing and binding in exchange for a giant ad inside the back cover. Don't forget to sell ad space in your programs!

Again, good luck!
