Musical question ...?

I cannot remember the italin word for what i want to do. I'm currently in 6/4 time at 130bpm in a crochet pulse and i want to go from a crochet time to a quaver time without changing the speed. I know theres a word for it but i can't remember, i think it begins with 'M'

6/4 is a compound time signature, which means you should be counting 2 dotted minim beats in each bar (1 and a, 2 and a repeat). However, from your description it sounds as though you are counting each of the individual crotchets in each bar (1,2,3,4,5,6 repeat). I'm not sure what you mean exactly by changing it to quavers. You say you don't want to change the tempo of the music. If you still want to be counting 6 beats in each bar, but want to change them to quavers you would need to change the time signature to 6/8. However, this would double the speed of you music.

If you could post a little more information about what you are trying to ultimately achieve I might be able to be of more help.

FYI: Modulation is the term used for a key change and Maestoso is a term that means to play in a majestic manner. And I'm not aware of any term that would define what you are trying to do.

Maestoso
Are you talking about modulation?

I dont think its what the first person to reply says, I think that is a style of playing, a manner.

Modulation, best guess.
M.........aybe it's time to change the time without changing the speed? not sure but the top answer sounded right
i have no idea what you just said.
since a crotchet is half as fast as a quaver, surely it doesn't matter that much. but i think the word is maestoso or something like that...lol not sure im only grade 3.
