Musical style?

answer

Musical style?ballet theater

Musical style involves all the elements that make up music - scales, modes, harmony, counterpoint, dynamics, orchestration, form, texture, emotion, etc. and anything else I have not listed. It is then the study of how all of these elements are used by the different composers and musicians in each era of musical history.

Musical style is a complete study in itself at the college level. With it you have a reasonable chance to identify the era and composer of a piece of music just by hearing it.

"A History of Musical Style" by Richard Crocker and published by McGraw-Hill is an excellent study of the subject.

I really love classical music, being a music student I have studied a lot of musical eras, such as romantic, jazz, modern, baroque and the like. Classical is allways my favourite though.

A lot of people say classical music has no proper theme, but it does. For instance, Mozart wrote many of pieces using a mathmatical process, so if you understand Mozart, you understand math!

It's also very relaxing to listen to, because it so much more soothing than BANG BANG BANG which you save for dancing! I just really love classic music.

Well, that's my music style, what's yours?
